We are seeking an experienced and dynamic Plant Manager to lead our Olympia, WA facility, overseeing production, quality control, logistics, and operations while maintaining our family-oriented work environment.
This is a hands-on leadership role that requires working closely with employees, area managers, customers, and executive leadership to ensure the company has the direction, systems, processes, and tools needed for long-term success.
Position SummaryThe Plant Manager will be responsible for overseeing daily plant operations, ensuring production goals are met, maintaining a safe and efficient workplace, and working closely with the President to drive operational improvements. This role includes managing four to five area managers who oversee:
- Production
- Sales
- Warehousing
- Shipping
- Galvanizing
This position requires strong leadership, problem-solving, and organizational skills, as well as the ability to use and improve ERP systems for production, inventory, and scheduling.
Key Responsibilities Operations & Production Management- Oversee daily plant operations to ensure efficiency, quality, and safety.
- Manage production scheduling, workforce planning, and resource allocation.
- Work with area managers to optimize workflow and remove bottlenecks.
- Maintain strong communication with customers and suppliers to meet deadlines and expectations.
- Lead and mentor a team of 30-40 employees, fostering a positive work culture.
- Delegate and empower direct reports to foster learning and organization scale
- Conduct daily meetings with area managers to align goals and expectations.
- Address employee concerns with fairness and transparency while upholding company values.
- Develop training programs to enhance workforce skills and cross-training opportunities.
- Ensure that all quality control measures are followed and continuously improved.
- Maintain compliance with OSHA, industry regulations, and company policies.
- Conduct regular safety audits and implement corrective actions as needed.
- Utilize and improve the ERP system to track production, inventory, and scheduling.
- Ensure accurate job costing, work order tracking, and reporting within the system.
- Train and support employees in effectively using ERP tools.
- Collaborate with the President and Controller on long-term business strategies.
- Manage plant budgets, control costs, and identify areas for efficiency improvements.
- Monitor financial performance metrics and provide regular operational reports.
- Work closely with the Sales Manager to ensure customer satisfaction and on-time delivery.
- Maintain strong supplier relationships to ensure raw material availability and cost control.
- Assist in quoting and estimating custom fabrication projects as needed.
✅ 5 years of leadership experience in a manufacturing, metal fabrication, or custom production facility.
✅ Strong background in plant management, operations, and production planning.
✅ ERP system experience (e.g., tracking production, inventory management, job costing).
✅ Strong computer literacy (Microsoft Excel, production tracking software, scheduling tools).
✅ Proven ability to lead, train, and develop a diverse workforce.
✅ Knowledge of safety regulations, compliance standards, and quality control processes.
✅ Financial and budget management experience related to production and labor costs.
✅ Excellent communication and problem-solving skills to manage day-to-day challenges.
➕ Experience in custom bolt fabrication, metalworking, or fastener manufacturing.
➕ Previous experience working with family-owned or tight-knit company cultures.
➕ Familiarity with lean manufacturing principles and continuous improvement initiatives.
➕ Ability to drive process automation and operational efficiency.
