RESPONSIBILITIES OF A SWIM TEAM COACH:
- Spend your days by the pool
- Have fun coaching young swim team participants at meets and practices
*This is not an exhaustive list of job duties. Other duties, responsibilities and activities may be assigned.
REQUIREMENTS TO BE A SWIM TEAM COACH:
- Minimum age of 16.
- Must have one or more years of experience swimming in or coaching for competitive swim teams.
- Must be able to demonstrate swim coach skills in accordance with YMCA standards.
- Ability to intentionally incorporate the YMCA Program Goals into swim practices and meets.
- Ability to effectively communicate information with members, peers, and supervisors.
- Must be observant, safety conscious, and able to react calmly and quickly in an emergency.
- Ability to think in the abstract, solve problems, and make quick decisions under stress.
- Immediately notify the appropriate staff of any broken equipment or unsafe aspects of the pool
