RESPONSIBILITIES OF A LEAD TEACHER: - EARLY LEARNING
- Supervises, implements, and directs a classroom within an early learning program.
- Provides mentorship and guidance to assistant and co-teachers within the classroom and/or center.
- Complete all daily reports, assessments and observations on children within the classroom, showing competency with assigned technology.
- Exhibit sound judgement in challenging and adverse scenarios, prioritizing child safety.
- Collaborate with peers and be effective in working in team-based environment.
- Understands and maintains ADHS state licensing rules and regulations and YMCA childcare program standards.
- Develops positive relationships with children and parents.
- Ensures pertinent site records, files, and other required administrative procedures are completed and maintained.
- Posts daily all required information in assigned place at program site.
- Preserves quality condition of all supplies, equipment, materials, and cleanliness of site.
- Follows all YMCA policies, rules, regulations, and procedures, including emergency procedures. Completes incident and accident reports, as necessary.
- Attend staff meetings and training courses as required.
- Incorporates the mission, philosophy, and 4 core values of the YMCA in all communication with participants and co-workers.
- Be detailed in the journal documentation.
- Creative and organized to reflect the children’s ideas and attitudes into group books.
- Work with and understand the cultural diversity of the local community.

REQUIREMENTS TO BE A LEAD TEACHER: - EARLY LEARNING
- 18 years of age or older
- Must possess or obtain prior to working in ration an Arizona Fingerprint Clearance Card and negative TB test
- Possession of an Associate’s degree, Bachelor Degree or a current Child Development Associate (CDA) credential granted by the Council for Early Childhood Professional Recognition, OR currently undergoing the process and expected completion within the next six months.
- Three years qualifying experience in childcare field and 6 credit hours in the childcare field or 60 documented training hours
- Minimum 6 months’ knowledge and experience in early childhood education or child development
- Minimum 6 months' experience working in a certified pre-school.
- Possess mature judgment and sound decision-making
- Proven capability to establish positive rapport with children.
- Ability to communicate effectively with members, peers, and supervisor.
- Ability to effectively communicate information on YMCA Child Care Programs.
- Must be observant, safety conscious and able to react calmly and quickly in an emergency.
- Ability to interact effectively with various stakeholders, including parents, social service providers, and personnel from school districts and or community partners.
