- Performs scheduled and preventative maintenance on heavy duty engines.
- Complete repair orders for maintenance work performed.
- Check complete repair order for accuracy.
- Document time worked on repairs and maintenance.
- Completes necessary paperwork as required and adapts to varying task according to changing volume of business needs.
- Uses diagnostic equipment to detect and isolate faults in medium and heavy duty engines and interprets test result.
- Reads written fault description on Repair Order and determines the most efficient repair procedure.
- Interacts with customers in a professional and positive manner.
- Assists other technicians with repair procedures as needed.
- Perform safety inspections.
- Complete assigned repair orders concisely and within time restrictions.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Skills and ability to properly diagnose, maintain and repair all diesel engine related equipment.
- Ability to communicate through verbal and written correspondence with all levels of management, employees and outside contacts.
- Individual accountability and strong attention to detail to consistently meet and exceed work quality standards.
- Must be knowledgeable in engines, transmission and electrical.
- Basic computer skills as demonstrated by the use of MS Excel and word processing applications.
- Good time management skills to ensure assigned responsibilities are completed in an efficient and safe manner.
- Ability to adhere to Company policies and rules and to promote safety standards.
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear. This position is very active and requires standing, walking, bending, kneeling, stooping, crouching, crawling, and climbing all day. The employee must frequently lift and/or move items up to 70 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
- Must possess a high school diploma or GED and/or equivalent combination of education, experience and training that has provided knowledge, skills, and ability necessary for satisfactory job performance.
- At least one (1) year of experience in a maintenance role that included supervised training on heavy transportation vehicles by a certified Technician.
- Certified associate in applied sciences or equivalent technical training in Diesel Technology is preferred.
- Tools not required but preferred.
- Complies with Company policies and procedures.
- Performs job safely with respect to others, property and to individual safety.
- Works effectively with others in the Company to encourage teamwork and productivity.
- Valid driver's license and acceptable driving record a must.
- We are drug free workplace that conducts pre-employment physical and drug screenings. We are regulated by the department of transportation and will be conducting random drug testing at regular intervals.
