JOB DESCRIPTION

Job Title: Groups Team Ministry Assistant                     

Accountable to: Groups Team Lead

Salaried/Hourly: Hourly, Full-Time (30-40hrs/wk)

   • Personally:  There is an expectation that you will have a regular and growing/deepening relationship with Jesus Christ through prayer, His Word, etc.
   • Ministry:  It is expected that you will lead your team (volunteer and/or staff) not only in the work, but also encouraging them in their walk with Christ.   

1. Create a relational culture 
   • Personally:  That you would honor and deal with things relationally the way that Jesus modeled and dealt with things.  The world will know we are Christians by our love for one another.   
   • Ministry:  We expect you as part of your job to engage relationally with others on staff and in our congregation.   The world will know we are disciples by our love for one another.

1. Connect the unconnected 
   • Personally:  We expect that you will be in a small group during the week as we would expect that of any member of our church. 
   • Ministry:  Participate in helping people to move from large environments to smaller discipleship environments.

1. Equip volunteers to serve 
   • Personally:  Spend time in prayer for God to provide workers for you and VRL.  In addition, you will personally find people to serve in our church, even if it’s not your own area. 
   • Ministry.  We expect that you are not hired to just do the job, but that your primary responsibility is to get the job done with the involvement, recruitment and equipping of volunteers. 

1. Share Christ with others 
   • Personally:  There is an expectation that in word and deed outside of these walls you will introduce people to Jesus Christ by your words and actions.  Specifically praying and looking for opportunities in your sphere of relational influence. 

1. Strive to make it better 
   • Personally:  In your home life and outside these walls, we do everything to glorify God, so do your best as unto the Lord.  Have a great work ethic and model grit because of your dependence on Him.
   • Ministry:  We expect that you will look at ways on a regular basis for how you, with God’s leading and volunteers, can make the environment that you serve in better.  Also, that you would look at other areas and make loving comments on how they could strive to make it better in their area and that you are open to them doing the same for you.

Anticipate and meet the administrative needs of the staff and key volunteer leaders of the Groups Team.

KEY JOB DUTIES

ADMINISTRATION

·       Provide administrative assistance to Life Groups, Men’s, Women’s, Young Adult and other key ministry initiatives on the team.

·       Maintain the Groups Team Calendars.

·       Schedule Volunteers for ministry and events.

·       Provide administrative assistance to the Groups Team Lead.

·       Provide administrative assistance to the Life Groups Pastors in each area of their oversight, including classes, programs, events and Life Groups.

·       Assist and execute Life Groups communications.

·       Manage and ensure accuracy of the Life Groups Rock database needs.

·       Recruit, raise and equip volunteers to serve in areas where needed.

EVENTS

·       Administer all Groups Team events and classes, utilizing volunteers, the Groups team and other staff, to ensure impactful events that lead people to their next step of their discipleship journey.

·       Innovate and utilize systems, programs, and software to ensure efficiency and the desired outcome of the events.

EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION

·       Years of Experience: 1-3 years’ experience

·       Education Required: HS Diploma

·       Major/Minor: Education relating to field of expertise

·       Certifications/Licenses: None

·       Management/Supervisor Experiences: Preferred experience leading volunteers

·       Budget Oversight: No

EXPECTATIONS

·       Attend VRL church services on a regular basis.

·       Have attended a DNA class, signed a membership form and be in missional alignment with VRL.

·       Be in a weekly small group on a regular basis.

·       Have served in a ministry at VRL.

·       Committed to regular giving of income to God through VRL.

·       Abiding in Christ and continuing to grow toward Christlikeness and spiritual maturity.

·       Strong interpersonal skills, clear communicator and humble-like character.

·       Self-motivated and looks for additional areas to contribute.

·       Ability to work with minimal supervision & maintain workflow without being asked or tasked.

·       Ability to multi-task and pay attention to detail.

·       Ability to adjust in work style for the benefit of the team.

·       Proficiency in MS Office, project management software, prior use of office equipment and ability to quickly learn new software.

·       Prior administrative assistant experiences helpful or gifted in that area.

·       This position requires grace under pressure as things are constantly changing, which can create an exciting, yet frenzied atmosphere.

·       Attend monthly All Staff meeting and participate in department meetings or other meetings when requested to do so.

·       Work in close association with the entire staff to build and maintain a strong team environment among our staff and complete the work necessary to fully serve and support the ministries and events of Valley Real Life.

Salary : $19 - $20
