What are the responsibilities and job description for the Nurse Practitioner/ Medical Director position at Valley Regional Hospital?

At Valley Regional Hospital, patients are the center of our coordinated care system and right now we have an opening for a Nurse Practitioner/ Medical Director to join our Urgent Care team.
The primary responsibilities of the Nurse Practitioner/ Medical Director are:
- Evaluation of patients to obtain detailed and accurate patient histories, perform physical examinations, delineate chronic and current health problems.
- Order routine or specific procedures (laboratory studies, radiographs, and administration of medications) and interpret findings or outcomes.
- Propose and initiate treatment programs for patients within the urgent care setting.
- Prescribe appropriate medications to treat or relieve symptoms. Address current medications and adjust if necessary.
- Performing routine diagnostic and therapeutic procedures such as, but not limited to, injections, immunizations, suturing and wound/burn care, incision and drainage, foreign body removal (skin or eye), managing simple conditions produced by infection or trauma, facilitating the management of more complex illnesses and injuries.
- Instruct and counsel patients regarding compliance with prescribed therapeutic regimens, or other areas, such as general health maintenance pertaining to the acute condition or any co-morbidities evaluated in the urgent care setting.
- Effectively communicate relevant information to Urgent Care providers, including information about overall VRH updates/initiatives
- Responsible for a number of activities related to the delivery of medical care and clinical services, such as utilization review, quality assurance, and medical protocol development
- Partner with administrative leadership in a dyad role to help ensure high provider engagement, quality, patient experience, and value performance for the VRH Urgent Care.
- Contribute to the development of a shared vision and annual goals for Urgent Care and engage providers in meeting the vision and goals.
An ideal candidate would have the following qualifications.
- Successful completion of educational program recognized by the National Commission on Certification NP Requirements
- Current BLS and ACLS, PALS
- Exceptional organizational and time management skills.
- The ability to work in a fast-paced, ever-changing environment with a diverse work force.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- High standards of accuracy and attention to detail.
- Ability to act effectively as a liaison between management and staff.
- High integrity, able to follow procedures
- Ability to be a self-motivated learner, to take initiative in learning the many complex processes
- Always exhibit professionalism and understand appropriate workplace behavior/communications.
