POSITION: Maintenance Team
REPORTS TO: Director of Facilities

THE ROLE
Valley School of Ligonier is an independent day school serving students in grades K-8. We are strongly rooted in our founding mission and core values, which emphasize holistic wellness, wisdom, integrity, and community. We are well known for our robust and balanced academic curriculum and the inclusion of arts and athletics in every child’s daily schedule. The Maintenance Team member is responsible for maintaining the cleanliness of the buildings and surrounding grounds. S/he is also responsible for providing general routine maintenance in order to sustain a safe and well-maintained environment for students, employees, residents, and visitors. This is a full-time, 12-month position that includes but is not limited to, the following duties and responsibilities.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Maintain cleanliness of buildings and grounds.
- Gather and empty trash.
- Follow procedures for the use of and storage of chemical cleaners and machinery.
- Operate sanitizing equipment.
- Operate company vehicle(s).
- Move and arrange furniture and equipment; set-up and tear-down for events.
- Assist with snow removal and other emergencies.
- Perform light maintenance and repairs, along with other assigned related tasks.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
- Knowledge of standard cleaning methods and procedures.
- Ability to lift heavy and large objects and climb ladders.
- Ability to stand, walk, and bend for extended periods of time .
- Knowledge of occupational hazards safety rules.
- Acumen for detail.
- Organized and quality-driven.
- Ability to communicate clearly and understand verbal and written instructions.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED required
- Valid PA driver’s license
- Availability to occasionally work after hours and/or weekends
