Job Summary: The Scale Operator is responsible for accurately weighing and recording incoming and outgoing materials at our recycling facility. This role requires strong customer service skills to interact with suppliers and clients, as well as commercial aptitude to assess material values and ensure fair transactions as well as finding new business opportunities. The Scale Operator plays a crucial role in maintaining efficient operations and upholding the integrity of our recycling processes.
Duties
- Weighing Materials: Operate scales to accurately measure the weight of incoming and outgoing scrap metal materials.
- Data Recording: Document weight measurements and material types in the company’s database for inventory and billing purposes.
- Customer Interaction: Provide excellent customer service by assisting clients with the weighing process, answering inquiries, and ensuring a smooth transaction experience.
- Material Assessment: Utilize commercial aptitude to evaluate the quality and type of materials, ensuring accurate pricing and adherence to company standards.
- Compliance and Safety: Ensure all operations comply with company policies, safety regulations, and environmental standards.
- Equipment Maintenance: Perform routine checks and maintenance on weighing equipment to ensure accuracy and functionality.
- Documentation: Maintain organized records of all transactions, including weight tickets and customer information.
- IT: Support our IT function, camera, internet, software, and anything IT related.
Requirements
- Associates Degree or Undergrad is preferred.
- Strong numerical and analytical skills for accurate weight measurement and data recording.
- Excellent customer service and communication abilities.
- Commercial aptitude to assess material values and negotiate transactions.
- Attention to detail and strong organizational skills.
- Ability to operate computer systems and software for data entry.
