Job Description
We are seeking an experienced Senior Accountant to oversee various accounting functions, manage financial reporting, and implement effective internal controls at our Valley Stream Corporate Office location.
This role will play a critical role in ensuring the financial health and stability of our operations.
- Manage day-to-day accounting operations, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, general ledger entries, and payroll processing.
- Prepare and analyze monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in accordance with GAAP standards.
- Conduct variance analysis and provide insightful recommendations to improve financial performance and operational efficiency.
- Lead the annual budgeting process and collaborate with departmental managers to develop accurate forecasts and projections.
- Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and internal policies, including Medicare and Medicaid billing regulations.
- Assist in special projects and initiatives as directed by the CFO or senior management team.
Required Skills and Qualifications
To be successful in this role, you will need:
- A mix of public and private accounting experience preferred.
- Strong experience with journal entries, cash/bank reconciliations, and month-end close required.
- Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or related field; CPA designation preferred.
- Minimum of 5 years of progressive accounting experience, preferably within the healthcare or long-term care industry.
- Strong knowledge of accounting principles, financial reporting standards, and regulatory requirements.
- Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, SAP) and advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
- Excellent analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex financial data and draw actionable insights.
- Proven leadership abilities with experience in supervising and mentoring junior accounting staff.
