SUMMARY
VTX 1 is seeking a highly skilled and dynamic Senior Network Administrator to join our team to support our growing ISP network. This role requires a solid understanding of networking protocols, concepts, Mikrotik and Juniper network infrastructure. You will work closely with the Network Supervisor / Manager to design, implement, and troubleshoot our ISP Network.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following.
- Design and implement fiber and fixed wireless network architectures to support business needs.
- Configure and manage network protocols such as TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, and subnetting.
- Configure and manage routing and switching protocols (BGP, OSPF, EIGRP).
- Implement VLANs and network segmentation for efficient traffic management.
- Set up and troubleshoot fixed wireless and fiber to the home networks.
- Work with cloud networking solutions, including Juniper Mist, Tarana Cloud Suite, Cambium CnMaestro, Calix Cloud.
- Be able to resolve issues using network tools (Wireshark, SNMP, Solarwinds, Libra, etc.).
- Be able to utilize scripting languages for network automation and efficiency (Python, Bash, PowerShell).
- Perform Layer 1 physical troubleshooting and manage Layer 2/3 switching and routing.
- Provide support for MikroTik and Juniper network infrastructure, including firewalls, routers, and switches.
- Provide support for Tarana, Cambium and Ubiquiti network infrastructure, including Base Nodes, Access Points, and customer premise equipment.
- Provide support for Calix, Adtran, Zhone, or Nokia Fiber to the premises, equipment.
- Monitor network performance and logs using SNMP, Syslog, and NetFlow.
- Other duties may be assigned.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
Associate's degree (A. A.) or equivalent from two-year college or technical school preferred; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Must have a valid Driver's License and insurable record.
Must pass pre-employment screen, physical and background checks.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Strong understanding of the OSI model.
- Previous experience working with layer 3 protocols such as IP, NAT, etc.
- Previous experience in ISP networks or a related field.
- Experience with one or more routing protocols such as BGP or OSPF.
- Certifications (e.g., CCNA, JNCIA, CompTIA Network , MikroTik) are a plus.
- Strong understanding of network hardware and network security best practices.
