Great Lakes Truck Centers / Valley Truck Centers is currently looking for a General Sales Manager to lead our Sales Department!
The General Sales Manager is responsible for maintaining a well-balanced Sales and Finance Department. The successful candidate will set objectives for the departments and accomplish them through planning, organizing, controlling, and measuring the performance of the Sales Managers, Sales Consultants, and F&I Managers.
Job Responsibilities
Recruit, train, manage, and direct Sales Managers, Sales Representatives, and F&I staffWork with General Manager in setting realistic monthly goals for the sales teamMaintain or beat market share and budgeted profit levelsMaintain floor plan expenses at or below budgetExplain the policies and procedures of the dealership to sales employees, follow up with employees to verify their understanding and compliancePromote an enthusiastic attitude to build positive employee attitudes and moraleMonitor the performance of sales employees and provide constructive feedback to aid in the sales success of each team memberSet an example of professionalism through daily actions and appearanceWork with managers to create cost-effective advertising programs and merchandizing strategies for the dealershipMaintain inventory of new and used vehicles that match local market needsAnalyze P&L to implement growth strategies that align with dealership objectivesOversee monthly financial statements to ensure they are complete, accurate, and submitted on time to upper management / dealership ownersAttend management meetings as requestedEstablish recommended unit sales and dollar gross profit objectives for the Daily Operating ControlCollaborate with Dealership Principal, Owner, and Managers to implement dealership sales processesUnderstand, keep abreast of, and comply with federal, state, and local regulations that affect vehicle salesJob Requirements
Ideal candidates must possess a strong management background and excellent customer service skills.
Must have at least 3-5 years of successful experience in automotive sales managementDealership Management experience is requiredPrevious experience in communicating with dealership principles, owners, and managersA proven track record in the automotive market reflecting high CSI is a mustStrong leadership and organizational skills, and the ability to understand profit and loss statements are requirements for successBasic MS Office knowledge; computer software and internet proficiencyExcellent verbal / written communication, strong negotiation, and presentation skillsProfessional appearanceAll applicants must be authorized to work in the USA and must be able to pass pre-employment requirements including a drug test and background screenValid driver’s license with a clean driving recordHigh School diploma or equivalentExperience in management and commercial trucks REQUIRED.
