Behavioral Health Technician
Summary:
Valley View Recovery Center, a client-centered, holistic MI/CD facility, is hiring Behavioral Health Technicians to help supervise our 51-bed, high-intensity, residential substance abuse treatment program for adult men.
The Behavioral Health Technicians are members of a multidisciplinary team, who are directly involved in providing quality care for clients. This position is responsible for facilitating meetings and providing structure for, during, and after hours and weekend activities.
Essential duties and responsibilities include the following (other duties may be assigned):
- Actively engaging with clients and developing positive relationships that support the client in meeting their goals
- Measure and record vital signs
- Document client information in the logbook using appropriate forms and in a timely manner
- Recognize crisis situations and provide appropriate interventions based on training and experience
- Ensure clients attend scheduled activities/programming.
- Provide transportation to appointments and meetings, as needed
- Understand and maintain confidentiality of client information and records
- Monitor and maintain the safety and security of the clients and the facility
- Address negative behaviors with a positive attitude
- Perform periodic inspections of client rooms and the facility, and work with the clinical team to develop corrective action plans to address problems, as needed.
- Supervise client activities including breaks, work assignments, recreational activities, and other activities
- When needed, administer medication consistently and accurately under the delegation and supervision of a registered nurse
- Track all medications that are administered, keeping accurate records of dosage times and amounts
- Assist in emergency situations as directed
- Perform support functions such as filing, answering telephone calls, and greeting facility visitors
- Monitor visitation sessions
- Maintain ongoing, current, and required training for best practice service delivery
- Other tasks as assigned
Requirements:
- Demonstrated knowledge and skills working with colleagues who thrive in a multi-cultural setting
- Demonstrated ability and emotional intelligence to work in unpredictable, crisis response, and team oriented setting
- Maintain strict and confidential guidelines regarding current and former clients, their families, and referents in accordance with federal and state laws
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Self-directed/motivated and ability to work independently
- CPR & First Aid certification (preferred)
