GENERAL OBJECTIVES:
- 1. Responsible for psychosocial consultations and brief counseling of Valley View Hospital patients when referred by physicians or requested by patient/family.
- 2. Responsible for psychosocial support and brief counseling for family members of hospitalized patients.
- 3. Participates in care planning and complex discharge planning when requested by physician.
- 4. Supervises social workers when requested by MSW and their program director.
- 5. Assesses gaps in community psychosocial services and makes recommendations to Clinical Administration.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Education:
- Master's degree in social work from an accredited Council of Social Work Education program.
- State licensure as a Licensed Clinical Social Worker
Skills:
- Counseling, consultations to physicians and hospital staff
- Medical social work skills
- Mental health assessments
- Knowledge of community resources
- Bereavement counseling
- End of life planning
Experience:
- 5 years post MSW experience in mental health, medical social work, consultations to physicians, and supervision of other social workers.
- Experience with identifying patient needs and referring them to appropriate support. This includes emotional distress, financial concerns, transportation and lodging assistance.
- Preferred candidates would have experience assisting with emergency Medicaid applications.

SALARY RANGE
- $30.22- $44.44/hour
- Entry salary dependent upon education, skill set, and experience.
