What are the responsibilities and job description for the PRN Cytologist position at Valley View?
SCHEDULE
- This is a PRN Day shift position.
GENERAL OBJECTIVES
- Demonstrates technical skill in all aspects of cytology processing, preparation and staining.
- Able to screen an average of 40 – 80 slides per day.
- Assists in specimen collection as requested.
- Maintains computerized patient records.
QUALIFICATIONS
Education:
- Graduate from an Accrediting Bureau of Health Education Schools (ABHES) accredited school of cytotechnology or other organization approved by Health and Human Services or must meet one of the other CAP qualifications for the Cytotechnologist position.
- Cytotechnologist CT (ASCP registration) is required or must be obtained within 1 year of hire.
- Associate degree is required; bachelor’s degree is preferred.
Experience:
- 1-2 years' experience as a Cytotechnologist is required.
- Knowledgeable of all aspects of the cytotechnology department.
- Screens average of 60 – 80 slides per day (limits set by CAP and Pathologist).
- Diagnosis is consistently within one grade of Pathologist or Consultant diagnosis.

SALARY RANGE
- Base rate 14% PRN Differential
- Evening, Night and Weekend Differentials Available.
