Essential duties and responsibilities:
- Greet patients in a professional courteous manner by phone and in person
- Answer phones, directing calls appropriately, and taking and delivering accurate messages
- Take prescriptions from patients by phone and in person and take refill authorization from nursing staff
- Type and fill prescriptions in an accurate and timely manner, ensuring that all scripts filled are reviewed and signed off by the staff pharmacist prior to delivery to the patient
- Fill prescription orders for outlying clinics, ensuring pharmacist check
- Stock shelves, unpack orders and other inventory control functions
- Third party reconciliation for pharmacy insurance claims and payments
- Cashier for the pharmacy including balancing of daily activities
- Perform mailing duties
- Check shelves for expired medications
- Other duties as assigned
- Calling patients about their prescriptions (Prices, quantities, prepayments, etc.)
- Ensures that all functions are performed within standard written procedures, guidelines, and state and federal regulations
- Assures compliance with safety and security policy and procedures
- Attends monthly technician meeting
Requirements:
- High School diploma or equivalent
- Willingness to complete Pharmacy Technician Certification within 6 months from date of hire
- State Board of Pharmacy Provisional Technician Licensure
- Current Basic Life Support training (CPR)
- 1-2 years of general work experience
- Demonstrates ability to work effectively with people of diverse races, ethnicities, ages, and sexual orientations in a multicultural environment
