What are the responsibilities and job description for the Clinical Laboratory Assistant (Part time) position at Valley Women's Health?
We are looking to fill a Clinical Laboratory Assistant (CLA) position at our laboratory in Provo. The CLA is responsible for performing waived to moderate complexity testing as defined by CLIA regulations and laboratory policy in accurate and timely manner.
Schedule: Monday, Wednesday, Friday from 4:00pm - 8:00pm and Saturday from 12:00pm - 2:00pm. No major holidays.
Requirements:
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Previous experience in a clinical laboratory experience preferred
- Strong attention to detail and excellent organizational skills
- Current US citizen or permanent US resident.
Responsibilities:
Specimen processing
- Checks labeling, logs samples, and processes specimens.
- Ensures acceptable specimen integrity
- Maintains accurate records of specimen information and ensure proper storage.
- Keeps work surfaces clean and orderly.
Equipment maintenance:
- Verifies equipment function through routine equipment maintenance and performs basic trouble shooting.
- Identifies and reports malfunctions or issues to appropriate personnel.
Quality control:
- Contributes to a safe and secure environment for patients, visitors, physicians, and co-workers by following established standard operating procedures.
- Assists in maintaining and monitoring quality control procedures to ensure accurate and reliable test results.
- Participates in proficiency testing.
Patient Testing:
- Runs waived and moderately complex laboratory assays in chemistry, hematology, serology, immunohematology/blood bank, and molecular areas.
- Serves as technical resource by answering questions from medical staff.
- Troubleshoots sample and order errors adequately.
- Identifies and communicates critical patient results by alerting supervisory personnel, the physician, nurse practitioner, certified nurse midwife, or nurse.
- HIPAA compliance is mandatory.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to lift up to 25lbs objects occasionally
- Required to put away supplies and materials, as needed.
