To better support our expanding organization, we are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Fleet and Shop Manager to oversee the operation and maintenance of our diversified fleet of vehicles, trailers, and equipment.
Position Summary:
The Fleet and Shop Manager will be responsible for managing all aspects of fleet maintenance and shop operations. This role ensures vehicles and equipment are safe, compliant, and operate efficiently while overseeing a team of mechanics and other staff.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee the maintenance, repair, and inspection of the company’s fleet of vehicles and equipment.
- Develop and implement preventative maintenance programs to minimize downtime and extend fleet life.
- Manage the daily operations of the shop, including scheduling and supervising mechanics, technicians, and support staff.
- Ensure compliance with all safety, environmental, and regulatory requirements.
- Maintain accurate records of repairs, inspections, and inventory using fleet management software.
- Develop and manage the department’s budget, controlling costs for parts, labor, and equipment.
- Coordinate with other departments to ensure fleet availability aligns with operational needs.
- Monitor performance metrics, identify areas for improvement, and implement solutions.
- Source and manage relationships with vendors and suppliers for parts and services.
- Recruit, train, and mentor shop personnel to ensure high-quality work and professional growth.
Qualifications:
- Proven experience in fleet management, shop management, or a related role.
- Strong knowledge of vehicle maintenance, repair practices, and fleet management software.
- Excellent leadership and organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
- Familiarity with regulatory requirements, including DOT, EPA, and OSHA standards.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Effective communication skills to collaborate with team members and stakeholders.
- Valid driver’s license; CDL is a plus.
- High school diploma or equivalent; additional technical certifications or degrees are a plus
