Role
The BSA/AML Representative is responsible for supporting the Fraud Team and reporting to the BSA/AML Fraud Manager. This will include account research to identify potential fraud as well as to ensure compliance relating to all BSA/AML/OFAC requirements. The BSA/AML Representative is also responsible for record preservation, to include gathering, researching, and retaining records to be utilized for various business purposes. Expectations also include indexing and scanning of documents to electronic record storage system, in addition to the proper recording and destruction of documents. The BSA/AML Representative is expected to assist with routine audit and miscellaneous compliance duties as required.
Major Duties And Responsibilities
Experience Required
One plus year of banking, BSA/AML, compliance, bank/credit union branch operations, processes, procedures, or other directly related experience. Work-related experience should consist of a background in credit union or financial services. A combination of education and experience may meet job requirements. Must possess basic computer skills including Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook. Experience with basic business writing is required.
Education/Certifications /Licenses
High school diploma or equivalent. Completion of BSACS required within one year and CUCE required within two years.
Interpersonal Skills
This position requires an aptitude for working with staff, management, and vendors in a highly professional and courteous manner. It requires a high degree of organizational skills and proficiency in the operation of personal computers, with attention to detail and accuracy. This position requires a self-motivated, self-confident professional who possesses a high level of energy and initiative, in addition to strong communication skills.
Other Skills
Basic skills in Windows-based software programs including Word and Excel. This job also requires a high degree of skill in written and verbal communication combined with a great deal of attention to detail.
Language Skills
Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to members, potential members, and other employees of the organization.
Mathematical Skills
Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percentage.
REASONING ABILITY
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

Major Duties And Responsibilities
- Independently gathers, researches, verifies, and documents, account research relating to potential fraud and suspicious activity.
- Assists in assessing emerging fraud trends and technological threats that pose a risk to EFM effectiveness and performance.
- Assists with internal and external examinations conducted by auditors and state examiners.
- Reviews Verafin processes and established parameters to determine recommendations for maximum optimization.
- Works with branch staff to ensure Currency Transaction Reports (CTRs) are completed accurately to ensure reports are filed in a timely manner.
- This role will require extensive work in Verafin and other credit union - related platforms.
- Creates and suggests changes to EFM procedures.
- Prepares and assembles documents and records used in the normal course of business as requested.
- Ensures required reports and records are submitted accurately and timely.
- Uploads Weekly Western Union outgoing wire file for Verafin OFAC screening.
- Reviews and confirms/declines Western Union wire compliance alerts, to include scanning entities in OFAC.
- Assists with questions, problems, and inquiries, and resolves or refers them in all areas, including BSA/AML/OFAC, Fraud, and Record Preservation.
- Assists in creating and presenting training to all CU employees in the areas of BSA/AML/OFAC and fraud.
- Assumes responsibility for the preservation of records.
- Prepares and scans all applicable credit union documents including, but not limited to, change of address documents.
- Assists departments and managers with overseeing storage, receipt, and retrieval of records.
- Indexes all scanned materials and shreds documents when applicable based on record retention guidelines.
- Manages the organization of records and maintains the required documentation for destruction of records.
- Assists and supports Risk Management Team as required, in addition to Credit Union personnel.
- Assumes responsibility for related duties as assigned or required, including the attendance of mandatory meetings.
- Required to obtain certification of BSACS within six months.
- Required to obtain certification of CUCE within two years.
