What are the responsibilities and job description for the Finishing Process Engineering Intern position at Vallourec - North America?
Projects
- Process Improvement
- Improve safety, quality and cost by working on the cut quality of MPM hot saws - contact blade suppliers, participate in trials with different blades, map potential solutions in the market and work on the improvement/design of the saws cooling system.
- Improve KPI tracking for saws and provide a better understanding of saw blades wear behavior - plan/run trials cutting different grades, map and measure blade performance and define wear equivalence factors, implement a KPI to measure and compare blade performance for a variable and complex product mix.
- Impact the quality of finishing equipment (UV coater) in the MPM through the implementation of KPIs, benchmark with Brazilian experts and FQM equipment, update current SOPs based on group's best practices.
- Reduce cost and yield through better positioning of the cutoff machine - evaluate the current system, find solutions both inside and outside the Company, perform trials and validate solutions.
- Benchmarking
- Build a network with existing experts of Vallourec around the globe, discuss technical options for your projects and share results/outputs.
- Knowledge Management
- Aggregate and make available the technical knowledge about the Finishing process - develop analysis skills, as well as synthetic thinking.
- Demonstrates a keen interest in project management, being autonomous, well-organized and adept at transverse communication.
- Proficient in designing and conducting trials on the shop floor and capable of exchanging knowledge and learning from skilled operators and technical experts.
- Highly skilled in building and maintaining professional networks.
- Pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Industrial or Manufacturing Engineering.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office suite.
