What are the responsibilities and job description for the Industrial Improvement Manager position at Vallourec Star?
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Work with Operations and Maintenance to identify underperforming KPIs and develop project strategies to drive improvement
- Oversee the Industrial Excellence Maturity Assessment (IEMA) for assigned area(s) and develop and execute strategies to increase the scoring. Ensure the IEMA ties closely to performance and KPI target achievement
- Coach VPAs, Frontline Supervisors, and Operating Teams to utilize Lean and Six Sigma methods identify to eliminate process wastes through the improvement cycle
- Track and report on Continuous Improvement Team (CIT) and Six Sigma project progress to ensure desired improvement achieved
- Work closely with internal teams to increase site-wide Continuous Improvement participation
- Direct, develop and mentor site VPAs
- Any Other duties or responsibilities as required by the Senior Director of Industrial Excellence
EXPERIENCE, SKILLS, AND KNOWLEDGE:
- Minimum 5 years' experience in a manufacturing environment directly applying Six Sigma/Lean principles with demonstrated results
- Mathematical skills – basic knowledge and application of statistics and algebra
- Strong computer skills, including Office 365 applications
- Proficiency in using quality management software and tools
- Strong written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills
- Understanding of basic industrial equipment functionality and physical, chemical, and metallurgical properties of steel (preferred)
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as standard operating procedures, maintenance instructions, and safety policies
- Ability to work in and lead diverse, cross-functional groups to achieve common goals
- Highly organized
- Able to manage multiple projects independently in a self-directed environment
- Ability to influence engagement of shop floor personnel in continuous improvement methodology by creating clear value propositions
EDUCATION, TRAINING, AND CERTIFICATIONS:
- 4 Year Degree Required. Degree in Manufacturing or Industrial Engineering preferred
- Six Sigma Black Belt or alternative Level IV TPS Certification required
