As Controls Engineer at Valmet, you will be part of our Engineering Services team and apply your skills and experiences to support the performance of the large-scale papermaking equipment at our customers facilities across North America.
A two or four-year degree in Engineering, Papermaking Technology, programming, or a related field; three to five years’ experience in a technical role within the papermaking industry or a related technical field; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Understanding of PLC programming and papermaking machinery and hydraulic systems a plus, but not required.

As Controls Engineer at Valmet, you will be part of our Engineering Services team and apply your skills and experiences to support the performance of the large-scale papermaking equipment at our customers facilities across North America.
- Developing electrical and fluid schematics, machine control and human machine interface software for Valmet equipment.
- Testing software modifications as well as participating in start-ups, and service calls.
- Developing the machine code in PLC or DNA system as well as Human Machine Interface (HMI), software so that equipment functions as specified.
- Providing technical support for project meetings with customers.
- Deliver technical training to customers' operators and/or maintenance personnel as needed.
- Making return trips to the site to eliminate warranty issues or address customer needs.
