This position offices in-person, on campus

ROLE SUMMARY

In collaboration with the Head of School, the Director of Arts Media will establish the Christ-centric vision and strategic direction for Valor’s program and provide overall leadership of the Arts Media team. This individual will develop and implement clear annual operating plans, in support of the school’s overall strategic plan, that encompass systems for assessment, budgeting, and reporting. In addition to overseeing elective coursework and Valor’s signature Conservatory program, this individual will also be responsible for providing creative direction for several productions and showcases throughout the year. Department oversight includes Performing Arts, Recording Arts, Media Arts, and Visual Arts while strong collaboration with other areas within the school such as Academics, Business and Advancement is also required. Creating an exceptional student culture, steeped in Valor’s vision and mission, and remaining steadfastly committed to reclaiming the arts for Christ is a central focus of this position.

Prominently located at the entrance to the Valor campus, stands the Valor Center for Culture and Influence, an 82,000-square-foot facility, with specialized space supporting student’s unique gifts and abilities in a variety of arts and media disciplines. In addition to stewarding the school’s assets well, the Director will actively seek to promote the value and impact of the Arts Media program both internally and externally. This includes driving student engagement in the arts and enhancing overall school enrollment by attracting mission-aligned students seeking the distinctive Valor Arts Media experience.

Primary Responsibilities
  • Use Godly wisdom and discernment to establish and guide the strategic direction of Valor’s Arts Media programs supporting the school’s overall strategic plan 
  • Guide curriculum, hiring, student awards, and production decisions that ensure the integration of Christian faith and a biblical worldview in all artistic endeavors
  • Regularly evaluate and assess all Arts Media faculty, staff and programs to ensure they support the school’s Expected Student Outcomes 
  • Create and oversee the Arts Media annual operating plans and budgets ensuring financial discipline and fiscal stewardship 
  • Participate in strategic fundraising efforts for Valor Arts Media in collaboration with the school’s Advancement department 
  • Consistently partner and communicate with parents in the shared desire for student growth and character development.
  • Collaborate with the Valor Cabinet (leadership) team in decisions and guidance regarding all areas of the school
  • Drive student engagement and enhance overall student enrollment by promoting arts media programs
  • Provide creative vision and design insight to other areas of the school in support of their significant events, as requested

Collaboration and Communication with the School Leadership Team
  • Together with other members of the Cabinet leadership team, the Director of Arts Media is particularly responsible for defining, cultivating, and leading our Christian community. Cabinet leaders must not only comply with standards but also affirm additional distinctive Christian beliefs of our community in the Christian Community Policy or otherwise as determined by the board of directors. 
  • Work collaboratively with Cabinet leaders in Academics, Athletics, Discovery, Student Affairs, and Spiritual Formation to discuss and provide action on critical issues facing the school and to engage the community in school-wide initiatives that propel the school forward in alignment with a distinctively Christian mission and vision
  • Serve as the communication liaison between Arts Media staff and the Cabinet leadership team. Participate in open dialogue with team members to ensure that gaps are filled in with knowledge and trust is promoted across pillar areas
  • Effectively communicate all matters related to the Arts Media program, seek counsel, and meet regularly with the Head of School and other school leadership members.

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, AND REQUIRED COMPETENCIES
  • Bachelor’s degree in related field; Masters preferred

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

Employees must periodically lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and could occasionally be required to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close and distance vision, color vision, peripheral/depth perception and the ability to adjust focus. WORK ENVIRONMENT
The work environment characteristics are varied and include classroom, office, and outdoor events while performing the essential functions of this job. The noise level in the work environment is also varied.

PAY RANGE: $80,000 - $110,000
