Valor Christian School International Secondary Teacher
Overview: As a Secondary Teacher at Valor Christian School International, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the academic and character development of secondary students. Reporting to the Secondary Vice Principal, you will collaborate with colleagues to develop and implement instructional strategies that integrate missions and the school's core distinctives into the curriculum. In addition to teaching responsibilities, you will have opportunities to participate in school-wide initiatives and events that promote character education, global awareness, and community engagement.
Responsibilities:
1. Curriculum Planning and Instruction:
- Develop and deliver engaging and developmentally appropriate instruction aligned with the school's curriculum and standards for secondary education. Provide individualized support to meet the diverse learning needs of students.
- Infuse missions and the school's core distinctives—such as Courageous Faith, Innovation, Collaboration, and Global Competence—into daily lessons and activities to foster character development, spiritual growth, and a sense of global citizenship among students.
2. Student Assessment and Feedback:
- Assess student learning using a variety of methods, including formative and summative assessments, to monitor progress and inform instructional decisions.
- Maintain open communication with parents, colleagues, and school administration.
- Provide constructive feedback to students to support their academic and personal growth, celebrating their successes and encouraging resilience and perseverance.
3. Classroom Management:
- Establish and maintain a positive and nurturing classroom environment that promotes respect, empathy, and inclusivity among students.
- Implement effective classroom management strategies to foster a safe, supportive, and conducive learning environment where all students feel valued and empowered to succeed
4. Curriculum Integration:
- Incorporate biblical truth, missions and service-learning opportunities into the curriculum, engaging students in meaningful projects and activities that promote empathy, compassion, and social responsibility.
- Collaborate with colleagues to align curriculum across grade levels and subject areas.
- ensuring continuity and coherence in the delivery of instruction and the integration of core distinctives.
5. Professional Development and Collaboration:
- Participate in faculty meetings, professional development opportunities to enhance teaching skills, pedagogical knowledge, and understanding of best practices in secondary education.
- Collaborate with colleagues, administrators, and community partners to share resources, ideas, and strategies for integrating missions, character education, and global awareness into the curriculum and school culture.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in education or a related field (Master's degree preferred). Have completed a teacher preparation program (preferred) or hold teaching certification with ACSI.
- Demonstrated commitment to integrating faith, missions, and character education into the curriculum.
- Strong communication, collaboration, and interpersonal skills.
- Passion for working with secondary students and fostering their academic, social, and emotional development.
