What are the responsibilities and job description for the Construction Estimator position at Valor Construction, Inc.?
Construction Estimator/Project Manager responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Be a team player.
- Search and review public construction projects to determine "biddability" of the project.
- Be timely and attentive for Pre-bid meetings. Must arrive early and take photographs and notes during the meeting.
- Be able to read project specifications and plans to determine scope of work and required contents of estimate.
- Be able to compare subcontractor proposals and determine who bid per plans and specs and is the lowest complete bidder.
- Knowledge to estimate approximate hours and material needed to complete a task.
- Review with Owner final estimate to ensure defined work aligns with the overall project schedule and cost goals.
- Knowledge of how to do quantity take offs using project documents.
- Keep track of any addendums posted during the bidding process.
- Work with and maintain good relationships with suppliers and vendors in order to receive timely proposals.
- Maintains knowledge of Company’s values and strategic plan.
- Fill in Prequalification packages
- Preparation and completion of bid sheet per project.
- Subcontractor bid solicitation when bidding as a General.
- Answering Subcontractor questions when bidding as a General.
- Preparation of proposal and submission when bidding as a Subcontractor.
- Requesting all Bonds and ensuring their timely arrival.
- Bid package preparation and submission when bidding as a General.
Post Bid:
- Schedule - preparation and adjustments as necessary
- Provide assistance to staff for submittals
- Order materials per approved submittals
- Order equipment - as needed
- Attend project meetings - as needed
- Process change orders
- Communicate effectively with our team foreman and/or GC Superintendent
- Close out procedures
Desired Qualifications:
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office, QuickBooks, Procore, Bluebeam and other construction management software
- Ability to read Construction Plans and Specs
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
- Strong time management skills and ability to prioritize tasks effectively
- Spanish speaking is helpful, but not required.
- Construction experience is a plus

· Jobsite hours are usually 7:00 am to 4:00 pm - Monday through Friday.
· Salary is dependent on education and experience.
