Position Title: Surgical Specialty Clinic Nurse

I Position Summary:
Under general direction of the physician, develops, implements, evaluates, and manages the care and education of the patient. Supervises day to day care of patient care and performs assessment of patients.
II. Principal Functions and Responsibilities:
A. Performs patient histories and physical examination under physician supervision, evaluates results, monitors treatment plans and maintains medical records.
B. Provides patient education and information to patients pre and post operatively.
C. Assists during surgical procedures and maintains equipment and supplies.
D. Demonstrates skills of critical thinking, conflict management, negotiation, motivation, and personal development.
E. Practices effective problem identification and resolution skills as a method of sound decision making.
F. Uses effective communication methods to disseminate information to staff in a timely manner.
G. Maintains a positive and effective relation with co-workers, other departments, patients, and visitors.
H. Acts as liaison between the clinics and other departments, in building relationships and resolving issues.
I. Assists co-workers with education acting as a mentor.
J. Performs other related duties as assigned
Minimum Education: Currently licensed in Practical or Registered Nursing by the State of Idaho.
Preferred Education: High school diploma or GED
Preferred Minimum Experience and Skills:
- One year experience
- Knowledge of medical procedures in a surgical office setting, including wound care, terminology, and equipment.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality, good verbal/written communication skills, establish priorities and remain flexible.
Physical Requirement: Must be able to stand, sit at a computer workstation for extended periods, stoop, lift at least thirty-five pounds, walk, has good hand/eye coordination and speaking ability. Ability to work on a fast-paced environment.
Certification, Registration or Licensure: RN in the State of Idaho and current CPR, BLS, ACLS, PALS and NRP card
Working Conditions: Primarily works in an office environment may require limited work in public forums. May be exposed to biohazards and other patient elements as found in a hospital environment.
