This role is a contractor position with the Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) working for the ICE Health Services Corps (IHSC). As a Behavioral Health Provider (BHP), you will serve as a subject matter expert in mental health and substance use disorders. You will assess, diagnose, and treat patients with mental health concerns or serious mental illnesses using your skills in diverse therapeutic modalities.
You will conduct mental health evaluations to enhance behavioral health treatment plans and services for detainees with serious mental illness or substance use disorders. This may include referrals to acute or inpatient mental health care as clinically determined.
The BHP provides direct mental health services, including on-site counseling, individual and group psychotherapy, substance abuse education, and behavioral analysis for detainees identified with mental health and substance use problems.
Additional responsibilities include providing consultation to medical, contract staff, and other healthcare professionals on continuity of care, treatment, monitoring, and management of patients with co-occurring diagnoses.
Schedule Requirements
This is a 40 hours/week full-time position with shifts typically ranging from 5-8 hours or 4-10 hours per day, starting at 7am. No weekends or overtime are usually required; however, on-call duties may be necessary depending on staffing needs.

Responsibilities
As a Behavioral Health Provider, you will provide direction and oversight to multi-disciplinary teams implementing and managing integrated mental health treatment programs.
You will also provide direct care to patients within your scope of practice and perform functions in accordance with current accepted practice, licensure, certification, credentialing, and granted privileges.
Other responsibilities include developing, managing, and monitoring patient treatment plans in coordination with behavioral health technicians to assess patient level of functioning and progress.
You may be expected to provide telehealth services based on patient needs and healthcare situations.
Mental health treatment will include brief counseling, psychotherapy, group therapy, behavioral analysis, and substance abuse education as required by ICE Residential and Detention Standards.
You will provide mental health treatment to individuals presenting with signs/symptoms of sexual or physical assault, abuse, and/or neglect using a multidisciplinary approach.
Additionally, you will provide mental health treatment to individuals presenting with signs/symptoms of suicidal, dangerous, or psychotic behaviors.
You will also provide post-discharge follow-up for individuals returning from inpatient mental health treatment.
In the absence of the Supervisory Behavioral Health Provider (BHP), you will serve as the suicide prevention program coordinator and as assigned by the Clinical Director.
Requirements
A Master's Degree in Social Work from a program accredited by the Council on Social Work Education (CSWE) is required.
Minimum one-year experience as a Licensed Clinical Social Worker, at the independent level as recognized in the state licensed, whereby clinical supervision is not required.
A current, permanent, full, and unrestricted license to practice clinical social work independently in the state where the duty station is located is also required.
This position requires privileging by IHSC and maintains BLS for Healthcare Providers certification through the American Heart Association or the American Red Cross.
