Job Description
This full-time position requires a skilled psychiatrist to provide direct care to patients within the scope of practice. The incumbent will work in a detention/correctional or residential healthcare setting, collaborating with an interdisciplinary team to evaluate, formulate diagnoses, and treat psychiatric and mental health care needs.
Responsibilities:
• Provide rotational on-call coverage and respond to medical emergencies as needed.
• Conduct non-psychiatric medical evaluations, diagnoses, and treatments in emergency situations within the incumbent's competency and scope of practice.
• Work closely with local primary care providers to coordinate care for identified medical concerns.
• Use IHSC video teleconferencing equipment and electronic medical records software to examine and record patient plans of care.
Requirements:
• Permanent, full, and unrestricted license to practice medicine independently in the state where the duty station is located.
• Board Certification or eligibility by The American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology, Inc.
• Experience implementing and managing a new mental health treatment program and/or a Modified Therapeutic Community treatment model.
