Behavioral Health Provider (BHP)
The Behavioral Health Provider is a licensed independent clinical Psychologist (PsyD) serving as a subject matter expert in mental health and substance use disorder.
The BHP possesses a high level of skill in assessing, diagnosing, and treating patients with mental health concerns and/or serious mental illness or serious mental disorders (SMI/SMD).
Key Responsibilities:
- Conducts mental health evaluations to enhance the behavioral health treatment plan development and services for detainees with SMI/SMD
- Provides direct mental services, including on-site counseling, individual and group psychotherapy within diverse therapeutic modalities
- Conducts specialized programming within a Modified Therapeutic Treatment Community model
- Consults with medical, contract staff, and other healthcare professionals to conduct and provide education and training on continuity of care
Additional Duties:
- Develops, manages, and monitors patient treatment plans in coordination with behavioral health technicians
- Provides telehealth services based on patient needs and healthcare situation
- Serves as a mental health consultant to other health professionals at the facility
Requirements:
- Holds a full, current, and unrestricted license at the Doctoral level for the independent practice of Psychology issued by the state of practice
- Meets requirements for inclusion in the National Registry of Psychologist Providers
- Maintains Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers certification through the American Heart Association or the American Red Cross
