Responsibilities
The primary responsibilities of this position include:
• Providing medical examination, care, and treatment to Military Treatment Facility (MTF) patients
• Providing medical care and treatment of communicable diseases and/or injuries
• Conserve health of patients by application of diversified knowledge of preventive, diagnostic, and therapeutic medical and surgical procedures
• Seeking advice of consultants when appropriate
• Instructing and monitoring other medical personnel in care and treatment of patients
• Initiating requests for tests, x-rays, and admissions to the medical treatment facility, as appropriate
• Following-up on abnormal reports
• Prescribing medications, as appropriate, in accordance with the privileges and MTF rules and regulations
• Preparing and documenting appropriate history physical examinations, and diagnosis
• Maintaining documentation of all treatment provided in accordance with MTF directives
Requirements
To be successful in this role, you must have:
• A Doctor of Medicine (M.D.) or Doctor of Osteopathy (D.O.) degree from an accredited medical school in the United States or Canada
• Successful completion of an internship and residency program in rheumatology
• Clinical competency within the past two years in the required clinical discipline
• Cardiac certifications through the American Heart Association: Basic Life Support (BLS), Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS), Neonatal Resuscitation Provider (NRP), Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS)
• A current, full, active, and unrestricted license to practice medicine in any state
• Board certification/board eligible in Rheumatology by the American Board of Internal Medicine (ABIM)
