Valor’s production facility includes more than 150,000 square feet of manufacturing space as well 3,000 square feet of designated explosive manufacturing space and four dedicated bunkers for explosive materials storage.
Summary : The Quality Engineer II will provide experienced quality assurance and planning support to the product development team, resolving bugs, defects, and other issues and ensuring the product meets customer specifications. Due to Valor’s clientele, the incumbent must be effective operating in a highly regulated environment as it pertains to external regulating agencies, contract requirements, and enterprise specifications.
Essential Functions
- Support efforts to maintain ISO certifications, including safe work practices
- Lead and / or direct first article inspections and tests
- Oversee / lead risk assessment and risk mitigation for supported programs using FMEA’s and other tools
- Communicate job expectations; plan, monitor and evaluate job results; coach, counsel, and mentor employees
- Work closely with our inspection team and provide leadership and support to ensure conformance to applicable drawings and standards
- Identify and implement improvements in quality and customer satisfaction
- Oversee / lead failure analysis and root cause evaluation for assigned corrective actions
- Design and develop new inspection techniques for products, including developing fixturing drawings, gage drawings, fabricating prototypes, coordinating efforts with Quality Engineering and Quality Assurance Staff
- Create and / or update fixture and gage drawings
- Carry out process improvement, problem resolution
- Write, review, and contribute to technical proposals and reports for both in-house and customer review
- Interpret customer technical data on existing and new contracts to ensure compliance and contribute to requests for variances as needed
- Ability to operate in a highly regulated environment as it pertains to external regulating agencies, contract requirements and corporate specifications
- Support on-site audits and visits from customers, regulators, and vendors
- Author work instructions for Quality processes (process specifications, inspection records, setup sheets, and other forms of quality documentation).
- Create and update inspection plans using 1factory software
- Work cross-functionally and with customers and suppliers to achieve quality objectives throughout the organization.
- Provide training for production, engineering, and quality assurance regarding quality / inspection processes.
- Oversight of manual / DCC-CMM programming and inspections and automated inspection equipment implementation.
- Maintain proficient working knowledge of drawing interpretation and GD&T.
- Communicate complex technical information using reports, charts, and images clearly and effectively with customers, co-workers, and management.
- Maintain professionalism and perform duties effectively when working independently and as part of a team to achieve company goals.
- Support Lean 5S initiatives to achieve a workplace that is clean, uncluttered, safe, and well organized to help reduce waste and optimize productivity
- Enter and Analyze SPC data.
