The Child Watch Staff supports the work of the Y, a leading nonprofit committed to strengthening community through youth development, healthy living, and social responsibility. This part-time position supports the Childcare team ensuring the health and safety of all children, while positively engaging with members and families to enhance their experience and their children’s growth at our facility.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Child Responsibilities:
• Ensure the safety of children; maintain a high level of confidentiality.
• Perform opening and/or closing procedures as required and outlined in guidelines.
• Follow parent/guardian sign in and sign out procedures. Document attendance.
• Interact with children in a variety of positive, fun and learning activities. Comfort upset children.
• Check diapers hourly and change when necessary.
• Feed children in accordance with parent/guardian instructions.
• Clean toys, chairs, shelves, wash dishes, fold laundry, clean bathrooms and empty trash as needed.
Other:
• Follow emergency procedures and safety precautions. Follow procedures for reporting all accidents, incidents, and hazards.
• Adhere to all policies, rules, and regulations as outlined in employee handbook and other communications. Obtains and maintains required training.
• Adhere to work schedule and substitute for other staff as needed.
• Communicate with fellow staff and supervisors. Provide feedback and address concerns in a courteous manner.
• Accept additional assignments as deemed appropriate, within the scope of the job description.
• Follows YMCA policies and procedures; responds to emergency situations. Obtain and maintain required training(s).
• Performs other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Minimum age 16 years
Equivalent of 2 years’ high school education required.
Previous childcare experience preferred.
SALARY:
Minimum starting rate of $11 an hour during weekdays and $12 an hour on Saturdays
Starting rate based on experience
SCHEDULE:
Part-time
Varying morning hours
