POSITION SUMMARY:
The Lead Teacher supports the work of the Y, a leading nonprofit committed to strengthening community through youth development, healthy living, and social responsibility. This part-time position supports the Childcare team by ensuring the health and safety of all children while overseeing the delivery of off-site, age-appropriate educational programs and positively engaging with members and families to enhance their experience and their children’s growth at our facility.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Childcare Responsibilities:
• Ensure the safety of all children; maintain a high level of confidentiality.
• Maintain awareness at all times of children’s activities.
• Follow emergency procedures as outlined by the Y Emergency Procedure Guide.
• Never leave children unsupervised.
• Follow parent/guardian sign in and sign out procedures.
• Follow provided curriculum activities, interacting with and motivating children.
• Supervise and interact with children in a variety of activities.
• Provide comfort to children
• Document attendance.
• Respectfully communicate with children, parents, supervisors and other Y staff.
• Provide feedback to parent/guardian.
• Adhere to work schedule and substitute for other staff as needed.
• Provide upkeep of assigned program facilities and equipment.
• Follow emergency procedures and safety precautions. Follow procedures for reporting all accidents, incidents and hazards.
• Adhere to all policies, rules, and regulations as outlined in employee handbook and other communications. Obtain and maintain required training(s).
• Accept additional assignments as deemed appropriate, within the scope of the job description.
QUALIFICATIONS:
High school diploma or equivalent required.
Minimum age 18 required.
Previous child educational experience preferred
SALARY:
Minimum starting rate of $12 an hour
Starting rate based on experience
SCHEDULE & LOCATION OPTIONS:
All shifts available for all age ranges, up to 29 hours per week. Please ask the hiring manager about schedules.
