Assistant Estimator

Pay: $17/hour

Work Schedule: Monday-Friday, 8:00am to 4:30pm, Day Shift

Purpose: This position will work with our outside sales team to establish new business and provide growth for the company as well as support many additional internal office and business functions. Sales will bring the opportunities to the estimating group who will handle the details to win the business and then hand off to one of our branches.

Responsibilities: The Assistant Estimator is responsible mainly for quoting new business opportunities. This will include working with the Lead Estimator across a broad range of internal and external stakeholders to determine material supply and cost, our manufacturing location, pricing, and part setup in our ERP system. Will help out as necessary in other areas as needed.

Job responsibilities include but are not limited to:

• Support our outside sales team. Our goal is to maximize their time/focus on selling
• Working with our purchasing team and directly with vendors as needed to acquire raw material pricing and availability
• Developing an understanding of capabilities, capacities, and common materials used in each branch location to be able to make recommendations on manufacturing location
• Act with a sense of urgency to meet quoting deadlines as set by customers - even when they may not seem realistic
• Follow up on quotes issued to record wins and losses with detail
• Support continuous improvement and quality objectives
• Perform other duties as required

Essential experience:

• Good understanding of quote processing and business/office documentation
• Experience working under pressure and in fast paced environments
• Manufacturing experience
• Experience with an ERP system, preferably Epicor

• Good reasoning skills & decision-making abilities with a sense of urgency
• Ability to multi-task efficiently without affecting accuracy/detail
• Competency in basic math skills
• Competent computer skills i.e., Word and Excel
• Organized with ability to prioritize a multitude of tasks
• Good communication skills (written and oral)
• Enthusiastic and team orientated Self-motivated
• Ability to read part prints
