This position emphasizes fostering socialization, play, and foundational skills essential for early childhood development. You will lead our instructional staff in creating engaging, play-based learning experiences that encourage curiosity, exploration, and a love for learning.
A significant responsibility involves designing and implementing age-appropriate activities that support cognitive, motor, and socio-emotional skills, such as cooperative play, problem-solving, and early language development. Additionally, you’ll guide the team in integrating routines that promote independence and self-regulation, helping children build confidence and resilience.
You’ll work closely with parents, offering guidance and strategies for reinforcing these foundational skills at home, and organize training sessions for parent volunteers to support classroom activities and play-based learning. Engaging with data on developmental milestones, you’ll shape and refine classroom practices, ensuring our programs meet the diverse needs of our young learners while preparing them for their future academic experiences.
With a strong commitment to the school’s values, you’ll support the preschool team in professional development, focusing on creative instructional strategies, classroom management, and fostering an inclusive and nurturing learning environment for every child. For a Transitional Kindergarten (TK) teacher at the Los Angeles Unified School District (LAUSD), a candidate must hold a **California Multiple Subject Teaching Credential**. Additionally, teachers assigned to TK must meet one of the following requirements for early childhood education:
24 Units in Early Childhood Education (ECE) or child development coursework.
Valid California Teaching credential
A bachelor’s degree in child development or early childhood education.
Completion of at least 120 hours of professional development in early childhood education or child development (within five years of being assigned to TK and every five years thereafter).
