Value Windows and Doors Inc, a leading Windows & Doors manufacturer in the Southern California area is currently hiring for an Service Field Technician in Duarte, CA.
Summary Description: The Service Technician will support the business in safely achieving its goals by working safely, communicating early and often, adhering to the preventive/predictive maintenance program, troubleshooting unintended downtime issues, developing root cause & counter measures, focused on continuous improvement and growing skillset.
Essential Responsibilities:
- Responsible for providing customer service and determining if warranty and non-warranty repairs are needed.
- Good oral and written skills are required to effectively communicate with service coordinators, customers, and/or installers about service solutions or installation deficiencies.
- Takes ownership of work, behavior and accepts accountability for own actions.
- Wear the required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and safety equipment based on service tasks being performed.
- Conducts activities in a fair, moral, ethical and legal way at all times.
- Performs effectively as a team member, able to work well with others, open to receive and give feedback, and treats everyone with respect.
- Always seeking to enhance technical abilities by attending workshops, online/in-person seminars, and reading operations and maintenance manuals.
- Services provided include adjusting components, replacing parts, performing water tests, taking measurements, and documenting all completed work and/or install deficiencies.
- Review Service Cases details before visits to prepare necessary equipment and parts and advise if additional rented equipment is needed (i.e. Lifts, specialty ladders, etc.).
- Submit list of necessary parts to complete service jobs.
- Service vehicles must be well-maintained, clean and organized.
- Proper documentation of work performed, any additional work that needs to be completed on a future visits, parts needed, water tests, and installation issues preventing work from being performed in our internal service tracking system.
- Must be able to use all necessary tools to conduct thorough inspections of products (calipers, levels, measures).
- Will need to be able to sketch drawings and include measurements for grid designs, arch windows, and different shaped windows/doors.
- When needed, verify product measurements out in the field.
- Will need to operate lifts and work at heights.
- Assess possible installation deficiencies affecting product functionality and document findings. Must be able to relay findings to service coordinators, customers, and/or installers.
- Other duties and special projects as need arises.
Experience Requirements:
- Excellent communication skills to collaborate with others under any type of condition.
- Good oral and written skills to effectively communicate with service coordinators, customers, and/or installers about service solutions or installation deficiencies.
- Ability to work under stress, remain calm, and calm other people during rapidly changing circumstances.
- Must have experience working with power tools (i.e., drills, radial arm saws, Dremel's, etc.)
- Maintain reliable and consistent attendance to meet the needs of the organization.
- Basic computer/mobile-phone skills (Microsoft Suite, Google Map, App for service case reporting, email, etc.)
- Able to work under general supervision regularly.
- Able to identify and handle the urgency of each task, and work in a high-stress position.
- Ability to work overnights, overtime and weekends on an as needed basis.
Training & Education:
- High school education or equivalent.
- Bilingual a must (English/Spanish), (English/Chinese)
