Van-Am Tool & Engineering in St. Joseph, MO, is seeking a detail-oriented and organized Administrative Clerk to join our Shipping and Receiving department. This role is essential for maintaining the department's efficient operation through a variety of clerical, recordkeeping, and customer service tasks. The position offers an excellent opportunity to contribute to the seamless flow of operations and ensure exceptional service delivery.
The Administrative Clerk works four 10-hour days, typically Monday-Thursday or Tuesday-Friday, from 5 : 00 AM to 3 : 30 PM, with opportunities for overtime.
In this role, you will be responsible for responding to emails promptly and professionally, performing accurate data entry, scanning, and filing tasks, and issuing hardware for upcoming jobs as required. You will also transfer finished products into inventory with precision, follow production schedules to support on-time deliveries, and perform additional tasks as assigned by management.
The ideal candidate will have excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, and strong proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel or similar software. You should have a basic understanding of office equipment and procedures, including recordkeeping and filing, and the ability to work independently or collaboratively to identify and resolve issues. Strong organizational and prioritization skills are essential for success in this role.
Applicants must be high school graduates or hold an equivalent qualification, with at least one year of clerical work experience in a similar role. Experience providing administrative support in a Shipping and Receiving department is highly valued, and prior experience in manufacturing is a plus.
The role requires the ability to sit at a desk and work on a computer for extended periods. Additionally, occasional lifting of up to 15 pounds is required. As the position is located near the warehouse dock, exposure to hot and cold elements is to be expected.
