Job Overview
We are seeking a detail-oriented and motivated professional Paralegal Assistant to join our legal team. The candidate must have at least three (3) full years or more of experience, working as a paralegal in a law firm doing litigation, matrimonial litigation, plus he or she must be able to fill out forms, schedule appointments, speak to clients, judges, and other lawyers. If you have fewer than 3 years please do not apply. The ideal candidate will have flawless writing skills, advance knowledge of grammar, and be able to write a letter or email with a minimum of supervision or no supervision at all. Pre-law or law school candidates need to apply. We are looking for a professional full-time paralegal, not an intern, not a temp, and certainly not a part-time job seeker. 2-week training will be provided, but only a candidate with experience will be hired. This is not an entry-level position. You are required to provide at east five (5) writing samples, plus you will given a writing test.
Salary will be according with experience, but it starts at a baseline of $50,000 per year. There is no need to speak Spanish, but bilingual candidates that satisfy all of the above requirements will be given preference, but not necessarily if the candidate who only speaks English writes English better than all the other candidates. This role involves supporting attorneys with various tasks related to case preparation, documentation, and client communication. The Paralegal Assistant will play a crucial role in ensuring the smooth operation of our legal processes. This job will offer bonuses based on performance, but health insurance will be only be provided after the employee has been with the firm for more than twelve (12) months no exceptions.
You must live within less than thirty (30) miles from East Hanover NJ to be considered. This employment is at the office from 10 am to 6 pm. You must have a driver's license and your own method of transportation such as a reliable motor vehicle. There is a hybrid option after you have worked for at least six (6) months with a great performance rate.
Responsibilities
- Assist attorneys in preparing legal documents, including contracts and pleadings.
- Conduct thorough research using CaseText, Google, AI, and other legal resources to support case strategies.
- Organize and maintain case files, ensuring all documentation is accurate and up-to-date.
- Communicate effectively with clients, witnesses, and other parties involved in cases while demonstrating excellent phone etiquette.
- Manage project timelines and assist in the litigation process by filing necessary documents with courts.
- Provide clerical support, including scheduling appointments, managing calendars, and handling correspondence.
- Collaborate with team members to ensure efficient workflow and adherence to deadlines.
Requirements
- Strong understanding of family law, immigration, criminal law, and estate planning, is preferred because we do divorce and matrimonial litigation, immigration law, criminal defense, and some estate planning. If you lack one or two of these experiences you will trained.
- Proficiency in using CaseText for legal research and Clio Management, DocketWise immigration software, plus some legal billing skills is highly desirable.
- Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Strong clerical skills with attention to detail in all aspects of work.
- Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
- A proactive approach to problem-solving and willingness to learn new skills related to the legal field.
