Sub Interpreter/Program Assistant for the Deaf & Hard of Hearing
**Job Summary**
The Program Assistant for the Deaf & Hard of Hearing works with the classroom teacher to implement the instructional program for each student in the assigned class.
Key Responsibilities
* Collaborate with teachers to develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs)
* Assist students with personal needs, such as toileting and dressing
* Instruct students individually or in small groups
* Supervise students during playground, field trips, and community-based instruction opportunities
* Monitor and maintain records of student progress
* Provide constructive feedback to teachers regarding students and programming
Requirements
* High school diploma required; associate's degree or 60 semester hours preferred
* American Sign Language (ASL) proficiency preferred
* Excellent communication, teamwork, and interpersonal skills
* Ability to work effectively with students with hearing impairments and developmental deficits
* Valid driver's license required
Working Conditions
* Special Services Building, 701 S Paw Paw Street, Lawrence, MI 49064
* May require stooping, kneeling, and lifting to play and work with children on the floor
