What are the responsibilities and job description for the Preschool Special Education Paraprofessional position at Van Buren School District?
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Assist certified Early Childhood Special Education teachers with teaching as directed
- Monitor students in the classroom, lunch room, bathroom area, hallways, and during recess time
- Assist with data collecting of behaviors
- Prepare curriculum materials and activities for instruction
- Help with maintaining a safe / clean classroom
- Work one on one with students when needed
- Change diapers / training pants as needed
- Assist with toilet training per IEP
- Assist student with feeding as needed
- Assist with life / functional skills
- Assist with medically fragile students within medical guidelines
- Assist with other classes as directed by supervisor and / or principal
- Assist with other clerical tasks as directed by supervisor
- Conduct screeners for early childhood special education as directed by supervisor

Reports to : Special Education Director and Assistant Director
Contract : A full contract for this position is 179 days. The 2024-2025 employment contract will be prorated based on days worked.
