Posted Position: We are looking for a detail-oriented and experienced Director of Finance to oversee all financial aspects of our company. The Director of Finance will be responsible for managing accounting functions, financial reporting, budgeting, and internal control policies and procedures. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in accounting and the ability to provide strategic financial guidance at the board level and to senior management
Responsibilities of the role
- Oversee the overall accounting/financial function of Van Doren Sales and its subdivisions, including budgeting and GAAP compliant cost accounting.
- Analysis and understanding of CapEx sales and managing cash flow / projections.
- Deliver clear, informative reports at the board level that speak to action.
- Fluency in ERP systems and Financial Systems.
- Develop and oversee financial strategies, policies, and procedures.
- Lead financial planning, forecasting, and budgeting processes.
- Present financial reports to executive team and board of directors.
- Analyze financial data and provide insights to support executive decision making.
- Prepares and submits sales tax filings for locations of business as required monthly, quarterly and annually
- Records and advises shareholders on disbursement status and payment requirements.
- Guides financial decisions
o Reviews opportunities for available cash position, investment and returns
o Reviews business opportunities for financial success
o Oversees the fixed asset budget
o Is versed in tax law and able to guide decisions based on tax implications
o Prepares forward looking statements based on an understanding of the business and its opportunities
o Oversee all interactions with external accounting firm, and control cost of the services
- Financial Statements: Review and analyze the financial statements on a regular basis:
o Monthly management team report of financial status and statements
o Quarterly meeting to review financials and business risk
- Maintains a documented system of accounting policies and procedures; implements a system of controls over accounting transactions to minimize risk.
- Works with the financial institutions to evaluate and explore the current programs and future opportunities
- Hiring, training and retaining skilled accounting staff including weekly team huddles and employee one on one, semi-annual reviews. Active management of accounting workgroup.
Required skills and abilities
- Proven ability to lead and manage a team of accounting professionals, and to provide clear and concise instructions.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to communicate complex financial information to both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks simultaneously, and to meet deadlines under pressure.
- Proficient in a major ERP system, with Epicor preferred.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
- Strong understanding of GAAP and internal controls.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting preferred.
- Five years or more of related experience required.
- Certified Public Accountant preferred
