The Production Scheduler plays a crucial role in daily plant operations by supporting production efficiencies, collaborating on resolving production challenges, ensuring all components are available for production, and products are produced and delivered on time. Our ideal candidate is familiar with production processes, has strong analytical skills and a knack for creating effective schedules and prioritizing tasks. Ultimately, the Production Scheduler will ensure operations run smoothly and efficiently, while meeting both quality and cost standards.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Primary responsibilities include:
Scheduling
- Translate a forecasted supply plan into an efficient actionable production plan.
- Facilitate daily and weekly meetings with the plants to align the schedule and production plan, ensuring that all necessary resources are available for the production process (labor, materials, and equipment).
- Coordinate with the Product Line & Procurement teams daily to provide production updates and reprioritize the schedule to support customer needs/meet production goals.
- Ongoing focus on enhancing flexibility around the greater production plan based on company priority, while ensuring all key stakeholders are informed of changes.
- Collaborate with Production Managers to ensure accurate & most efficient schedules are planned and executed. Support resolving potential production delays.
- Track and communicate with management and other stakeholders the status of production schedules and any potential issues that arise.
- Manage and set up production jobs in ERP system to be run in various areas, such as Harvesting, Freeze Dry, Drum Dry, Reboxing, IQF, Oil Coating, Ground/Sifted, Blended, etc.
Production Efficiencies
- Through data analysis and hands-on experience, highlight root causes/trends around production inefficiencies & quality challenges. Support the implementation of corrective actions if necessary.
- Support continuous improvement around production efficiencies to increase throughput & support cost savings goals.
- Inventory
- Manage raw material inventory turns and available capacity at the plant level.
- Track material in the ERP system, Deacom.
- Manage raw material transfers in system from facility to facility to ensure materials are ready and available to support the production plan.
- Work closely with the Master Data team to ensure updated item numbers, changes in BOMs and packaging instructions are accurate in system.
- Procurement
- Place purchase orders in system for raw materials and ingredients to meet production requirements.
- Highlight quality concerns with raw materials that impact production efficiencies.
Forecasting
- Collaborate with the Product Line team to prioritize jobs and align on specific customer needs.
Quality
- Collaborate with the Quality team to ensure production jobs align with customer specifications.
- Work with Quality team to rework and resolve material that is out of specification.
- Support the Engineering team to schedule downtime for maintenance, inspections, and other projects.
Education Qualification
- Bachelor’s degree in supply chain, Operations, Business Management, or closely related field, or equivalent work experience.
Job Experience
- 3 years minimum supply chain and/or scheduling experience required
Required Skills
- Advanced knowledge of Microsoft, specifically Excel.
- Experience working in an ERP system.
- High organizational, time management & prioritization skills with a strong attention to detail.
- Ability to multi-task on and under pressure in a fast-paced environment
- High communication skills and ability to facilitate meetings frequently.
- Analytical/tactical thinker with a continuous improvement mindset
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team and also take independent initiatives when the need arises.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Sit and use a computer for a long period of time.
- Manual and physical dexterity needed to operate a computer keyboard and handle paper documents.
- Sufficient near vision acuity to read information appearing on computer display screen, hand-written forms, and printed on paper.
- Adequate hearing and verbal abilities to communicate effectively in person and by telephone/computer
- The ideal candidate must be able to complete all physical requirements of the job with or without a reasonable accommodation.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
- Typically works in an indoor office environment with frequent visits or meetings to the production facility
- Expected Pay Range: $67,000/year-$86,000/year, exempt
- Bonus: This role may further qualify for supplemental compensation in the form of bonus and incentive programs, contingent upon achieving pre-established individual and company performance metrics.
