Job Title: Director, Project Management
Job Summary: The Project Management Director plays a crucial role in overseeing and guiding the project management team. This position involves strategic planning, leadership, and ensuring the successful execution of multiple projects within the organization. The individual in this role is responsible for managing a team of project managers, ensuring consistent project delivery, and aligning project objectives with overall organizational goals.
Responsibilities:
Team Leadership and Development:
- Lead and manage a team of project managers, providing guidance, support, and mentorship.
- Foster a collaborative and high-performance culture within the project management team.
- Identify training and development needs for team members and facilitate skill enhancement.
Strategic Planning:
- Collaborate with senior leadership to align project management strategies with overall organizational objectives.
- Contribute to the development and implementation of project management policies, procedures, and best practices.
Resource Allocation:
- Work closely with resource managers to ensure optimal allocation of project managers to projects based on skills, availability, and project requirements.
- Monitor and manage team workload to maintain a balanced and efficient project portfolio.
Quality Assurance and Standardization:
- Establish and enforce project management standards, methodologies, and best practices.
- Conduct regular reviews to ensure consistency in project execution and delivery.
Stakeholder Management:
- Act as a point of escalation for project-related issues, providing resolution and managing stakeholder expectations.
- Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders across the organization.
Project Oversight:
- Provide oversight and guidance on high-profile or complex projects, offering support to project managers as needed.
- Monitor project progress, identify risks, and intervene to ensure successful project delivery.
Reporting and Communication:
- Develop and maintain regular reporting mechanisms to update senior leadership on the status of projects.
- Communicate effectively with stakeholders, ensuring transparency and alignment with organizational goals.
Continuous Improvement:
- Identify opportunities for process improvement within the project management function.
- Implement changes and enhancements to increase efficiency and effectiveness.
Qualifications:
Education:
- Bachelor's degree in a relevant field; a Master's degree is preferred.
Experience:
- Extensive experience in project management, with a track record of successfully managing complex projects.
- Previous experience in a leadership or managerial role is essential.
Skills:
- Strong leadership and team management skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- In-depth knowledge of project management methodologies and tools.
- Strategic thinking and decision-making abilities.
Certifications:
- Project Management Professional (PMP) or other relevant certifications are highly desirable.
Industry Knowledge:
- Familiarity with the Recycling industry or construction sector is a plus.
