Summary
We are currently seeking a Transportation Dispatcher. This position encompasses a variety of tasks that are necessary to support the overall objectives of the Transportation Team in delivering a Great Customer Experience. Effective communication is essential in this role with facilitating information between drivers, transportation staff, and other departments. Hours: Monday- Friday 8am-5pm. Routing coverage days/ hours shift to ensure routing is complete.
Responsibilities
Routing
- Use of Roadnet to perform efficient daily routing of customers orders
- Maintain Roadnet database by continuously updating provided information to help forecast least cost scenarios
- Develop and communicate weekly driver schedule
- Communicate delivery concerns to DSM’s, Program Sales, Customer Service and Transportation
- Communicate schedule changes with transportation and also arrange replacement drivers as needed
Backhaul
- Work with Transportation Supervisor helping to coordinate efficient opportunities of getting product coming back to VE for restocking
- Coordinate with Drivers, Receiving, and Purchasing teams when product will arrive to VE for shipping
VE Equipment Maintenance
- Work with Equipment manager to help track/maintain/recover equipment Preventative Maintenance or Service work
- Assists with on road and/or emergency repairs and help arrange for replacement equipment
- Assist in documenting all pertinent information related to collisions/injuries/damage as needed
Office Responsibilities
- File proper invoices upon return, validating return of customer keys at end of driver’s day
- Answer phones from Drivers, Sales, Customer Service and provide needed information
- Updating Driver delivery notes and assign new keys as needed
- Arrange for timely delivery of second trips or search for alternative solutions
- Assist drivers with proper daily logs to keep compliant
- Set up VE overnight drivers hotel arrangements

Qualifications
Previous routing experience utilizing a computerized system such as Roadnet is preferred. Proven problem solving and decision-making skills are essential for this position, along with demonstrated analytical abilities. Good communication skills are necessary in dealing with various departments and drivers. Previous driving experience is helpful.
