Job Opportunity – Human Resources Generalist

Van Laan Construction Supply is looking to add a Human Resources Generalist to our team. Van Laan is a West Michigan leader in wholesale and retail sales of construction supplies and services. Our specialties include rebar fabrication and concrete construction supplies. We pride ourselves on providing our customers with exceptional service and best in the business industry experience.

This is a full-time hourly position and offers a competitive hourly wage with overtime often available.

Key responsibilities:

· Assist with weekly payroll and benefits processing.

· Coordinate employee on boarding and orientation.

· Serve as a key contact for employee benefits and other employee related issues.

· Assist with various accounting and office responsibilities. For example, customer invoicing, report processing, paperwork processing.

· Assist with planning employee events (Christmas party, summer outings, etc.).

Qualifications:

· Two plus years of experience processing payroll and serving in a human resources function with direct employee contact.

· Experience with ERP, HRIS and payroll systems. Great Plains and Isolved preferred.

· Proficient in Microsoft Excel, including data entry, formula creation, pivot tables, and charting, alongside strong Microsoft Word skills for document formatting, report generation, and editing.

· Work well in a team and maintain a positive attitude.

· Must be of good moral character and possess a high level of integrity.

· A highly motivated, self-starter who can multi-task and prioritize duties without significant direct supervision.
