Van Leeuwen Ice Cream is seeking a proactive and detail-oriented Procurement Manager to join our growing Supply Chain team. This role will oversee and execute key supply chain functions with a focus on purchasing, cost optimization, and category strategy development. This role plays a critical part in ensuring high-quality products are available to meet retail demand while driving cost efficiencies. This role reports directly to our Director of Planning Purchasing and will be based out of our Williamsburg, Brooklyn office. This role will also follow Van Leeuwen's Hybrid work model and be in office at least two to three days a week.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
- Manage and optimize supply chain operations for key retail categories, including toppings, drinks, and packaging, ensuring high-quality products are delivered on time and within budget
- Monitor and manage inventory levels across scoop shops and third-party logistics (3PL) partners to meet retail demand without overstocking.
- Support long-term demand forecasting and planning to align supply with business needs and growth
- Monitor and support all retail scoop shops growth strategies ensuring timely stocking strategies and product availability
- Manage and support timely replenishment with acceptable stocking levels to ensure “in stock” levels for retail offerings
- Effectively communicate all “at risk” and “opportunities” to leadership and partners to enable a seamless customer experience supporting all VL initiatives and growth opportunities as presented
- Place purchase orders using ERP systems and ensure timely delivery of materials to support Van Leeuwen’s retail locations
- Negotiate pricing and establish contracts with vendors and distributors to manage costs effectively across all assigned categories
- Developing procurement strategies that align with business goals and objectives
- Identifying and vetting potential suppliers based on factors such as price and quality
- Managing supplier relationships to guarantee that quality and delivery requirements are met
- Identifying and implementing cost-saving opportunities without sacrificing product quality
- Identify and source new products to support R&D initiatives, retail innovation, and cost-reduction goals
- Working closely with Van Leeuwen’s Operations Innovation Manager to support introductions of new products
- Work closely with the Leadership team to manage the supply chain in line with strategy and initiatives
- Assist the Director of Planning & Purchasing with the development of category strategies and distributor partnerships
- Prepare and deliver monthly and quarterly reports on category performance, purchasing trends, and cost savings
JOB REQUIREMENTS
- Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Business, or a related field preferred
- 3 years of experience in supply chain, procurement, or a related field
- Strong background in category management and supplier relationship management
- Experience in food manufacturing or consumer packaged goods (CPG) strongly preferred
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel (pivot tables, VLOOKUPs, data analysis)
- Experience working with ERP systems (NetSuite experience is a plus)
- Familiarity with developing and implementing category strategies
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities with keen attention to detail
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and organizational skills
- Proven ability to collaborate effectively across cross-functional teams and with external partners
Compensation & Benefits
$90,000 - $100,000 annual compensation depending on experience, paid weekly
Eligible for annual 10% bonus
