Van’s Aircraft, a leader in the aerospace kit planes industry, is seeking an experienced Welding Supervisor to oversee and optimize our welding operations. This role is responsible for driving operational excellence, safety, quality, and productivity within our welding team. You will lead a team of skilled professionals dedicated to delivering high-quality weldments that support the production of innovative and reliable aircraft.
Your Mission, Should You Choose to Accept:
- Supervise, train, and mentor a team of welding technicians, fostering a culture of responsibility, discipline, and empowerment.
- Provide clear work assignments, monitor performance, and maintain a positive, compliant work environment.
- Conduct performance evaluations, make hiring decisions, and implement disciplinary actions when necessary.
- Ensure all welding activities meet established quality standards, safety protocols, and deadlines.
- Coordinate daily tasks to align with production schedules and organizational goals.
- Oversee the accurate interpretation and application of work instructions, blueprints, and technical documentation.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives in quality, throughput, and welding processes.
- Identify and resolve production bottlenecks and quality concerns using root cause analysis techniques.
- Partner with internal teams on process improvement projects and promote adherence to lean manufacturing principles.
- Develop and implement innovative weld fixtures to enhance operational efficiency and product quality.
- Prototype weldments to support new product development and ensure manufacturability.
What You’ll Bring to the Team:
- 5 years of experience in welding or fabrication leadership, preferably in aerospace or related industries.
- Extensive background in conceptualizing and building weld fixtures.
- Handson experience in mechanical assembly and precision craftsmanship, including using tools, gauges, and inspection equipment.
- Proficiency in reading and interpreting technical documentation, blueprints, and welding instructions.
- Competence in using software tools such as Microsoft Office and ERP systems for reporting and communication.
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to prioritize tasks in a fastpaced environment.
- Exceptional communication skills, with the ability to lead and motivate teams effectively.

Work Environment:
- Factory setting with exposure to varying temperatures.
- Role involves standing for extended periods, handling parts up to 50 pounds, and utilizing hoists for heavier materials.
