ABOUT THE POSITION
VHB's growing Raleigh, NC team is looking for a transportation focused environmental engineer or planner to join us as a Transportation Project Manager. As a member of the VHB NC Planning and Project Development Team, the selected candidate will lead the development of transportation projects, including NEPA / SEPA compliance. The successful candidate will have a strong understanding of transportation project development processes, including state and federal agency protocols, and project oversight experience. The ideal candidate will have general knowledge of the technical resource areas evaluated in the project development stage, such as natural resources, cultural resources, traffic analysis and public engagement. The candidate will work with both the Raleigh and Charlotte, NC VHB offices, supporting work across the state and region; the position can be located in either the Raleigh or Charlotte office.
Responsibilities
Work with an interdisciplinary team to lead environmental planning and project development for a variety of transportation projects including SEPA / NEPA compliance for agencies such as NCDCOT, FHWA, FTA, etc.
- Plan for and lead public engagement efforts for transportation projects.
- Document and communicate findings from expert field observations with clients and public stakeholders.
- Oversee other planners and engineers in the development of reports, presentations and other deliverables.
- Mentor junior team members in environmental planning principles and project development for transportation projects.
