ABOUT THE POSITION
GIS Analyst - Transportation | Hybrid | Any VHB Office
VHB's Technology Enablement team is looking for a proficient GIS Analyst, ideally with experience using Esri's Roads & Highways extension to join our dynamic team. The successful candidate will leverage their expertise to manage, analyze, and visualize geospatial data pertinent to Transportation related projects and have minimum of 2 years of professional experience in Python. You will play a critical role in facilitating data-driven decisions and achieving project success in transportation initiatives.
Position may sit in any of our VHB offices (our list of office locations can be found here). We have a hybrid environment with a mixture of in office and remote days.
Applicants must be legally authorized to work for VHB in the U.S. without employer sponsorship.
Responsibilities
Data Collection and Management : Performs moderately complex analysis of spatial data using GIS technology (e.g., buffering, spatial overlays, distance calculations). Acquire, process, and manage spatial datasets using Esri's Roads & Highways tools.
- Data Maintenance : Maintain accurate records of roadway characteristics, traffic patterns, and infrastructure conditions. Diagnoses and troubleshoots GIS software across the entire GIS software stack.
- Data Analysis : Utilize Esri Roads & Highways to conduct spatial analysis and modeling to support road and highway project planning and operational efficiencies.
- Mapping and Visualization : Develop detailed and accurate maps with Esri Roads & Highways, presenting data in an accessible format for various stakeholders.
- Database Maintenance : Maintain and update GIS databases, ensuring data quality, integrity, and accessibility.
- Metadata Creation : Handle metadata creation and management.
- Integration and Collaboration : Collaborate with engineers, planners, and project managers, providing GIS support and integrating geospatial data within their workflows using Esri's Roads & Highways.
- Reporting and Documentation : Produce detailed reports, visual displays, and presentations that communicate spatial data analysis results and project insights effectively.
- Regulatory Compliance : Ensure all geospatial work aligns with regulatory standards and best practices in the industry.
- Quality Control : Implement robust quality assurance processes to maintain data accuracy and reliability.
