Job Summary: The Warehouse Technician will be responsible for maintaining an organized and efficient warehouse environment, performing a variety of tasks including inventory management, order fulfillment, and material handling. This role requires expertise in operating forklifts, managing stock levels, and using computers to track data and update inventory systems.
Key Responsibilities:
- Forklift Operation: Safely operate forklifts to transport materials and products within the warehouse, ensuring compliance with safety protocols.
- Inventory Management: Track inventory levels, identify stock discrepancies, and update stock quantities in the warehouse management system (WMS).
- Receiving & Shipping: Unload shipments, verify order quantities, and properly store products. Prepare outgoing shipments, ensuring the correct items are picked and packed.
- Data Entry: Use computer systems (e.g., WMS, ERP) to log inventory movements, update product locations, and input receiving/shipping data.
- Order Fulfillment: Pick and pack orders according to customer specifications, ensuring accuracy and timely delivery.
- Quality Control: Inspect products for damage or defects, reporting issues to management and taking corrective action when necessary.
- Safety & Maintenance: Follow all safety protocols for operating equipment and handling hazardous materials. Maintain cleanliness and organization in the warehouse.
- Team Collaboration: Work with other warehouse staff and departments to ensure smooth operations and efficient order fulfillment.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
- Forklift Certification: Must hold a valid forklift operator’s license or certification.
- Computer Skills: Proficient with data entry, inventory software (such as WMS or ERP systems), and Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, etc.).
- Attention to Detail: Strong focus on accuracy when tracking inventory, picking orders, and data entry.
- Physical Stamina: Ability to lift heavy objects, stand for extended periods, and perform physically demanding tasks.
- Problem Solving: Ability to identify issues in the warehouse or with inventory, troubleshoot, and take appropriate action.
- Communication Skills: Strong verbal and written communication to coordinate with team members and report issues to supervisors.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Previous experience in a warehouse environment or as a forklift operator.
- Knowledge of barcode scanners and RFID technology.
- Familiarity with warehouse management systems (WMS) and enterprise resource planning (ERP) software.
Working Conditions:
- Warehouse environment, with exposure to varying temperatures.
- Must be able to work flexible hours and overtime if required.
