The Environmental Compliance Administrator (ECA) is based at the corporate headquarters in Kansas City, MO and reports to the corporate Productions Director. This position is fully onsite. The ECA works with internal and external partners of the company to optimize systems to ensure regulatory compliance. The Environmental Compliance Administrator provides technical expertise for the hourly workforce, operations managers, and the corporate side. This position tracks the environmental health and safety (EHS) regulations related to the company’s waste management, NPDES and RCRA requirements and participates in our compliance strategies while abiding by the mission, objectives and policies of the company.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND DUTIES
- Upholds safety, health, environmental procedures and communicates directly with operations, maintenance, and Quality Control Lab to always ensure compliance
- Must be able to adjust to continuously changing priorities and able to prioritize and handle multiple tasks and projects concurrently
- The ECA position is subject to extended workdays and/or workweeks and call-out for emergency response
ENVIRONMENTAL PROGRAM – MANAGEMENT REVIEW
- The ECA position is responsible for providing an on-going review of environmental programs and performance to management
ENVIRONMENTAL KEY PERFORMANCE METRICS
- Define, measure, compute, trend and report environmental metrics
- Lead proactively to continuously improve performance
ENVIRONMENTAL MANAGEMENT – OPERATING PERMITS & PLANS
- Maintain environmental permits/plans to ensure permitted operation
- Complete permit/plant required data collection, testing, inspections, and associated reporting as assigned in the permits/plans
- Plan and execute modifications required to keep permits/plans current with new regulations, compliance, business development needs, etc.
- Assist with announced and/or unannounced regulatory audits
INCIDENT MANAGEMENT PROCESS
- Engage/assist operations, maintenance in this process to report, investigate, correct, and manage environmental incidents to completion
- Participate in incident investigations
- Track and report environmental incidents statistics
ENVIRONMENTAL COMPLIANCE DOCUMENTATION
- Develop and file required environmental program work products and compliance documentation in the environmental hard file system
- Maintain and organize the environmental compliance digital files
EMERGENCY REPONSE PROGRAM (ERP) PERFORMANCE
- Assist in the training of all ERP team members
- Respond to plant incidents
REGULATORY REPORTING MANAGEMENT
- Data collection, computation, and accurate completion of all regulatory reporting requirements (weekly, monthly, quarterly, annual) including but not limited to Tier 2, EIQ, SWPPP, SPCC, DMR, KCAQ, DNR, EPA, and DOE required reporting
Qualifications And Education Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science preferred
- 2 – 5 years of experience working in an EHS capacity is preferred
- Computer literacy is a must (Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.)
- Strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills
- Organized and detail oriented to self-manage projects and priorities
- Ability to speak Spanish is not required but would be a definite plus
Physical Requirements
- Sitting or standing for long periods of time at a desk
- Working in multiple environments including office and outdoor job sites
- Occasional need to travel to job sites or company locations (< 5% travel)
